Facial FAQS

How do I prepare for my facial?

Preparing for your facial can significantly enhance its effectiveness and results. Here are a few essential tips to consider before your appointment:

  1. Discontinue Retinol Use: Refrain from using any products containing retinoids or retinol at least five days before your facial. These ingredients can make your skin sensitive and more prone to irritation during the treatment.

  2. Avoid Facial Waxing: To prevent skin sensitivity or potential irritation, it's recommended to avoid any facial waxing or depilatory creams at least 48 hours before your facial appointment.

  3. Stay Hydrated: Ensure your skin is adequately hydrated by drinking plenty of water leading up to your appointment. Hydration helps improve your skin's overall health and enhances the effects of the facial.

How Should I Care for My Skin After My Facial?

  1. Maintain Body Temperature: After your facial, it's important to keep your body temperature stable. Avoid activities that can cause overheating, such as intense workouts, saunas, or hot tubs for the rest of the day. Elevated temperatures can potentially irritate your freshly treated skin.

  2. Avoid Heavy Makeup: Your skin has just undergone a thorough cleansing, so allow it to breathe by avoiding heavy makeup application. Let your skin recover and avoid products that might clog your pores.

  3. Keep Skincare Simple: For at least three days post-facial, simplify your skincare routine. Cleanse your face gently using a mild cleanser with lukewarm water. Follow up with a hydrating essence or alcohol-free, fragrance-free mist (like Rosewater or Soothing Hydration). Moisturize your skin and ensure you apply SPF for protection.

  4. Avoid Picking Blemishes: Sometimes, a blemish might surface after a facial. This could be due to existing issues before the treatment. Refrain from picking at these blemishes to prevent the spread of bacteria and potential scarring. You can calm inflammation by icing the area with a turmeric ice cube, which helps reduce swelling.

  5. Wait Before Exfoliating: Give your skin a break before reintroducing exfoliation. Wait at least five days before exfoliating your skin at home. Over-exfoliating can disrupt the skin barrier, leading to various skin issues such as excess oil production, clogged pores, dehydration, and fine lines.

  6. Prioritize SPF Protection: Protecting your skin from the sun is crucial for preventing signs of aging and reducing the risk of skin cancer. Make SPF a daily essential in your skincare routine to maintain the benefits from your facial treatment.
